DACHA
By Darya Kudryavtseva
"Dacha" is a short documentary that takes viewers on a journey to Russia's countryside, where many families own and spend their summers at dachas, or small summer cottages. The film explores the cultural significance of dachas in Russian society. Through interviews with dacha owners, the film delves into the personal and communal rituals. We see how dachas have become a source of pride for many Russians and a symbol of a simpler, more carefree way of life. The film also touches on the challenges faced by people and the role dacha played over the years. Most of the film was shot in my dad's hometown Novokuznetsk, where I spent many summers of my childhood, which make this project so valuable for me.
